In the age of regional revitalization calling on countermeasures against population decline, local governments need to break a comprehensive administrative body of so-called “full-set or self-sufficient” type, which forms all facilities, and take projects alone, and shift to an administrative style taking projects on a regional level through collaboration among neighboring local governments. This paper attempts to consider the future collaboration among local governments and the regional management in Japan, after looking at the actual state of collaboration among local governments, focusing on the trends since the great mergers of the Heisei era, and introducing and analyzing the actual states of City Deals in UK and the city regions.
