Abstract
The appraisal of powder coatings has been changing to the “standard” from “special” one. In all over the world, the production and output of powder coatings have shown remarkable growth, and the total price of them is cheaper than the other coating systems. They are depend on the advance of powder coating, for instance, thinner film, low-temperature cure, equipment, efficiency and so on. In this paper, world-wide and each countries of production and the trend of individual resin types of thermosetting powder coatings?epoxy, epoxy/polyester, polyester urethane and acrylic-are reviewed with current characteristics of the typical resins, formulations and the properties of each coating films. And the new type, dubbed acrylic-polyester hybrids, is also introduced. This type has special film properties compared with conventional types.
