In electronic publishing systems, the one of the most important technologies is the electronic halftoning. The halftoning technology contains the functional equivalent of photographic contact screen and dithering. In this paper, Only a brief understandable explanation for digital halftoning could be presented. This paper consists of four parts. In the scope, it is insisted that the electronic technology, and in particular computer technology, must understand what the artists and craftmen have accomplished with existing techniques in order to get a better result than traditional methods. The electronic screen made by using lookup table which is stored on the digital memory is explained in the first chapter and some examples of dithering methods are described in the second chapter. The last chapter is applied to the discussion of moire phenomena in which the declaration of relationship between spatial frequency componets of screened image and moire-free design method has been tried.
