The manufacturing technique of coated printing paper has been investigated to improve the productivity. However, the higher the coating speed, the more difficult to maintain the product quality. Coating machines for printing paper have been remarkably developed and have greatly contributed to improve the quality of coated paper and to increase the productivity, and it will continue in the future. This report presents the history of development of coating methods, characteristics of typical coating machines and the recent technical trend.
