Economic Inviting Effect of Tourists from outside of the Prefecture who use the motorway tollgate in Nagano Prefecture

Abstract
Recently, in Japan, because of the increasing spare time and lower transportation cost, people have the opportunity to travel in the country or to foreign countries. Consequently, tourism development or resort development is important factor in making regional activity and tourism industries have raised national and regional economy every year. For Nagano prefecture where the Winter Olympic Games will be opened in February, 1998, we estimated what economic effect the tourists (from outside of the prefecture) using tollgates of motorways in the prefecture have on the prefecture by use of input-output analysis. As a result, we found that product by the tourists to gross product in Nagano prefecture is 0.017 (1.7 %) and the economic inviting effect is 1.83.
