Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the effects of personal training from a health fitness programmer (HFP) on subjects who underwent Ningen Dock.
Methods: The subjects were 339 persons who underwent Ningen Dock and the personal exercise training program (personal training group: PG) and 357 persons who underwent Ningen Dock only (no training group: NG). The use of the personal training program was on a voluntary basis. The HFP gave instruction in the exercises and how they should be continued. We analyzed the exercise habit-related findings from medical interviews, as well as behavior change stage, anthropometric and blood test results for both groups. The period of the study was one year.
Results: PG subjects were instructed in weight reduction (33%), resistance training (31%), stretching (21%) and assessment of subject’s exercise habit (9%). One year after Ningen Dock, there were no significant changes in test results. However, in the PG, there was a significant improvement in exercise behavior. There was also a significant decrease in action stage subjects (p < 0.05) and a significant increase in maintenance stage subjects (p < 0.05) in this group.
Conclusion: The personal training program during Ningen Dock led to improvement in the stage of behavior change.
