Blood transfusion, diuretics was given, however he expired on the same day. At autopsy there were severe pulmonary hemorrhage and edema. The both kidneys appeared pale and swollen. There were multiple petechial hemorrhages on the surface. Histologically the proxymal tubules revealed massive vacuole degeneration. There was no evidence of hemorrhagic casts. The adrenals showed the atrophic adrenal cortex, and in the fascicular layer there were numerous vacuoles in the cortical cells. There were multiple mucosal erosions in the esophagus and colon. The immediate cause of death was attributed to the severe pulmonary hemorrhages and edema.
