Abstract
A 5-year-old girl had a tick-bite and surgical excision was done. The tick was identified to be Ixodes nipponensis. As a tick can transmit infectious diseases, such as tularemia, the affected site and the general health of the patient were followed. There were no untoward effects. The classification of ticks and epidemiology of tick-transmitted infectious diseases in Japan are discussed.
