Abstract
Localized neurofibroma associated with Bowen’s disease was present on the back of a 78-year-old woman. The family history was unremarkable and a specific manifestation of multiple neurofibromatosis was nil. Neurofibromas began to grow from her age of 60, and 26 tumors were distributed systematically in the area of the left thoracic 9 and 10 dermatomes. Two tumors extended to the right side beyond the midline of the trunk. From previous findings on the distribution of cutaneous nerves of the back (Tsunoda, 1982), we considered that these 2 tumors grew along the cutaneous nerves which crossed over the posterior midline of the trunk from left to right, forming the so-called crossed overlap of dermatome. Bowen’s disease appeared on the lower back 8 years before. The association of the two diseases was probably coincidental.
