Abstract
A 12-year-old boy was treated with a preparation including Visderm ointment for eczematous dermatitis on the perioral portion. After one month, there was an exacerbation featuring swelling erythema and papulae with itching on the face. Patch tests on the topical preparations used were positive for Visderm ointment, and amcinonide, the principal ingredient of Visderm ointment was positive for each concentration of 1.0, 0.1, 0.05, 0.01 %. The patch test on another 25 topical steroids was negative. Cross reactions among amcinonide and 5 other corticosteroids with similar structures from ketalation on the C16α, C17α cis diaxial bond OH were not confirmed.
