Pain from osteoarthritis of the hip is usually relieved by intertrochanteric osteotomy. Pain due to osteoarthritis of the knee is also relieved well by tibial osteotomy.
The ideal indication at the present time appears showing narrowing of the joint with resultant valgus or varus deformity but minimum degenerative change.
Indications, contraindications, sites of the osteotomy etc. were discussed here. A new method for conservative treatment of gonarthrosis was described.
