Anterior sacral meningocele is very rare congenital anomaly, besonders in our country there is no case report.
We experienced this anomaly by chance. A man aged fifty nine years attended the urological department with a history of haematuria.
Roentgenography showed that the sacrum was to be deformed and hypoplastic. Rectal examination showed that a large smooth rounded mass was lying behind the rectum. The tone of sphincter was found to be normal and there was no hypaesthesia of saddle area and lower extremities. We diagnosed anterior sacral meningocele by myelography. He was operated because of renal cell carcinoma of the left kidney. After nephrectomy, he died due to massive necrosis of intestine.
