For stabilization at the lumbar spine fusion, the Knodt distraction rods were utilized to 10 cases consisting of one teenager. They were classified into 7 cases of spondylotic spondylolisthesis, one case of degenerative spondylolisthesis and two cases of failed lumbar disc surgery. Posterolateral fusion was carried out in all the cases, and six of them were simultaneously added decompressive laminectomy in the lower lumbar region. The postoperative results were evaluated as follows, Good in 9 patients and Fair in one patient. The Knodt distraction rod instrumentation is simple and seems to be very helpful stabilization in lumbar spine fusion and bring about satisfactory clinical results.
