From April 1962 to February 1985, 173 cases (193 fractures) were treated in our hospital. Of these fractures, 84 cases (100 fractures) were pelvic ring fractures, and 89 cases (93 fractures) were acetabular fractures.
There were 124 males and 49 famales, average age being 43.1 years old. 22 cases (26.5%) of the pelvic ring fractures were treated operatively, and the satisfactory result was achieved in all cases. 78 cases (87.6%) of the acetadular fractures were treated operatively, and very good or good result was achieved in 64 cases (84.2%). Avascular necrosis of the femoral head, posttraumatic osteoarthrosis and ectopic bone formation were observed in 64.%, 9% and 3.8% of these cases respectively.
We performed the total hip replacement without cement on 3 cases of avascular necrossis and a case of osteoarthrosis.
