The cases of 40 patients (44 hips), who had been treated with Pavlik harness, were reviewed radiologically at a mean of 5.5 years (range, 3 to 11 years) after treatment. Good results were noted in 38 hips (86%) and poor results were noted in 6 hips (14%) in the dislocated side. Acetabular angle (α angle) and OE angle of both sides (dislocated side and contra-lateral side) were measured, and the distribution of the cases on the α-OE chart was studied periodically. Although the distribution of both sides became coincident with growth, a few cases showed the delay of improvement in α angle and OE angle even in cases with good results. The difference between good cases and poor cases had become obvious at the age of 3 to 5 years.
