Of 82 cases of Supracondylar fracture of the humerus in children during past 12 years, 44 cases (25 boys and 19 girls) were evaluated after the treatment of vertical skin traction or direct traction. The age at fracture ranged from fifteen months to thirteen years with an average of five years and seven months.
According to Ikeda's evaluation, 32 cases (74%) were A (good), 6 cases (13%) were B (fair), and 6 cases (13%) were C (fair).
Cubitus varus deformity was noted in 5 cases evaluated as C. This deformity was caused by re-displacement of a fragment during casting after a short-term traction in four cases and by incomplete reduction for a severely displaced fragment in one case. It is noted that a patient, whose Baumann's angle was less than 0 degree on initial X-ray, did not show his carrying angle greater than 0 degree at the evaluation.
