In this therapy, there are always such problems as the maintenance of reduction of complexed displaced fragments and recovery of full motion of the knee joint after bone union.
To these problems, various instruments for fixation of reduced fragments such as plates and pins have been developed, whereas, there are still some problems. The one is coronal fracture which can be hardly given the keep-reduction. Also, complicatedly crushed fragments may be given the closed treatment by traction for a long term.
The practice and results of the closed and open treatment are reported for the supracondylar fracture of various types as mentioned above.
