The results obtained with a Dynamic Axial Fixator in the treatment of fractures are reported. We treated 8 tibial and 4 femoral fractures including 8 open fractures. Bone healing was achieved in 10 fractures within 14 to 35 weeks. Limitation of motion range of the knee or ankle was minimum. One unstable femoral fracture failed to keep alignment after twe trials of reduction.
Another tibial fracture had to be treated by PTB cast because of pin track infection.
Dynamic axial fixation has many advantages for open or comminuted fractures of the lower extremity.
