Monteggia fracture in children isn't rare, and favorable result can be generally obtained by accurate diagnosis and treatment in the early stage, while its disease is more often overlooker. This time, we investigated the treatment and prognosis of Monteggis fracture in children during past 10 years, and obtained the following results.
We hadan experience to treat 23 cases with Moteggia fracture during 10 years from 1980 to 1989, and 15 cases with Mongeggia fracture in children of these. The mean age at the injury was 8.6 years old, and type of the joint dislocation accrding to Bado's classification was noted in 9 cases with type I, 5 cases with type II and 1 case with unknown type. The therapeutic results in 13 cases whose follow-up survey was performed more than 6 months were evaluted according to Bruce's standard criteria.
The therapeutic result in fresh cases was excellent in 7 cases and fair in 1 case, and in old cases was excellent in 3 cases and good in 2 cases.
