41 cases of trochanteric fracture were treated by operative method with sliding hip screw in our hospital from 1985 to 1990. There were three cases of cutting out and all of them were unstable type.
The type of fracture, the position of the lag screw in the femoral head and the telescoping of the lag screw were studied.
We concluded that complete reduction of the fracture and central positioning of the lag screw in the femoral head will prevent cutting out of the lag screw.
