With a model of spontaneouse osteoarthrosis (OA) in mice of C57 black stain, we examined the influence of Dicrofenac Na and Prednisolone in the incidence and the intensity of OA.
Twelve mice were divided into three groups. Group D was treated with Dicrofenac Na (3mg/kg/day) (n=5). Group P was treated with Prednisolone (10mg/kg/day) (n=2). Group C was treated with distelled water (n=5). The drugs were given orally on six days a week for four months. After having killed the mice, the left shoulder, hip and knee joints were removed, fixed, decalcified in EDTA and embedded in paraffin. The sections were stained with HE and Safranin O. There were no incidence of OA in shoulder and hip joints. The incidences of OA in knee joints were 20% in D group, 80% in C group and 100% in P group. Accroding to the histological-histochemical grading system of Mankin, D group was 1.0±0.7, P group; 4.0 and C group; 2.4±1.7.
