Twenty-five patients with fractures of the tibial condyle were treated during 1981-1992. Fractures were classified into undisplaced type (28%), central depression type (12%), split depression type (12%), total depression type (8%), split type (4%), and comminuted type (36%) as defined by Hohl. Clinical results were evaluated according to the criteria of Hohl & Luck and the JOA score. Excellent and good results were obtained in 76% and poor results in 24%, especially in the comminuted type of Hohl's classification.
Clinical result was found to correlate with anatomical reduction and age, but not with ligamentous injury of the knee.
The mean femoro-tibital angle at the final radiography was 176±3.6° in the excellent and good group.
