Double fractures of long bone in the lower extremities is comparatively rare, and such injuries are often complicated.
We studied the clinical results in 6 cases with double fractures of the femoral shaft and 4 cases with double fractures of the tibial shaft.
Multiple fracture was found in 8 cases. The waiting period for surgery was 1 week to 18 weeks (mean: 5 weeks).
Disappearance of fracture line observed on the roentgenogram after surgery was 6.6 monthes in femoral cases and a mean of 4.5 months in tibial cases.
No cases of non-union were observed.
Slight post-operative osseous deformity was found in 2 cases, but anatomical alignment was almost always favorable.
