Solitary myeloma is a rare disease and has better prognosis as compared with multiple myeloma. The present report describes a 64-year-old female.
Her chief complain was lumbago and leg pain. Skeletal roentgenograms showed sclerotic lesion only in the sacrum. Serological examinations indicated the monoclonal component of Ig-Gλ in serum electrophoresis.
Urine did not contain the Bence-Jones protein. Myeloma cell was not seen on examination of the bone marrow. We performed open-biopsy. Histological diagnosis of myeloma was performed, after which solitary myeloma was diagnosed. We performed radiotherapy with 45 Gy.
6 years after radiotherapy, lumbago and leg pain abated and the monoclonal component of Ig-Gλ disappeared. The patient did not show local recurrence and multiple myeloma.
