We report nine cases with pathological fracture of metastatic bone tumor in the long bone. They consisted of 6 males and 3 females, with a mean age of 69.8 years. All cases underwent curettage of the bone metastases, and reconstruction by internal fixation with bone cement supplementation.
All the patients ragained stability of the affected limb after surgery. Pain was relieved in most patients and they were able to start early rehabilitation. Results of the surgical treatment were excellent or good for the function of affected limbs, and showed improved quality of life (QOL). This treatment is useful for patients who are not able to receive radical operation.
