(1) We carried out some experiments on the preparation of alginic acid from the sea weeds, as above mentioned, and found that there were some different behaviours from those of Lami-nariaceae.
(2) For the decoloration of alginic acid the sulphurous acid method was the most suitable one within the limits of our experiments.
(3) The fact that alginic acid decreases its viscosity during the storage was confirmed. The cause of this fact will be explained from the fact that alginic acid is more difficult in drying than sodium alginate.
