Abstract

The combined action of the ribonuclease of pig pancreas and the acid phosphatase of rice bran showed that more than 90% of the acid stable phosphorus groups of RNA (pyrimidine nucleotide) were transformed into inorganic phosphates, where as the amounts of acid labile organic phosphoric groups (purine nucleotide) remained unchanged during the digestion.
Cytidinic acid (crystal), was isolated and cythosine and thymine were detected (by paper chromatogram) from the products of partial decomposition of RNA by the combined action of ribonuclease and the acid phosphatase of rice bran.
