1. The influence of starvation of seven days, nineteen days and thirty days, upon the mitochondria, the “Special Granules” and ribonucleic acid in the liver cells of Oryzias latipes has been observed.
2. The longer the duration of starvation, the smaller the size of liver cells; the shape, the amount and the localization of mitochondria showed no change.
3. The " Special Granules " decrease markedly in parallel with the duration of starvation.
4. Ribonucleic acid decreases in parallel with the duration of starvation.
5. Fat globules within the cytoplasm of liver cells diminish in parallel with the duration of starvation.
The author express cordial thanks to Dr. Prof. T. Taniguchi for his valuable suggestion and criticism.
