Abstract

India ink particles injected into the pericardial cavity of the toad were absorbed into the lymphatic capillaries in the epi- and pericardium as in the case of the rabbit, directly, first mainly throug h the intercellular spaces between adjacent mesothelial cells of the serosa, then through the network of the argyrophil fibrils in the meshes of the loosely arranged, branched collagenous fibers in the submesothelial areolar tissue and finally through the intercellular spaces between adjacent lymphatic mesothelial cells.
