Abstract
Glyceryl ethers and their related compounds have been prepared in industrial scale using glycidyl ethers under Phase Transfer Catalytic reactions (PTCs). PTCs are one of typical types of technology for “Surface Control” with onium compounds, such as quaternary ammonium salts, and many types of newer organic materials with glyceryl ether skeletons (C-3) have been appeared by PTCs. On the other hand, PTCs can solve more than one problem, such as no use of organic solvent, easy separation of reaction products, recycling, higher selectivity and/or yield, those which are subjects for “Green Chemistry”. However, another problems are remained to be solved yet. So, I would like to review and discuss the subject based on analyses of advantages/disadvantages related to PTCs.
