Abstract
Fibrous dysplasia which is a benign tumor of the bone, is an uncommon tumor arising in the facial and skull bone. Two cases of fibrous dysplasia dysplasia of the maxilla are reported.
Case 1 is a girl aged 8 who complained of a swelling in her left cheek. Case 2 is a woman aged 28 who complained of a swelling and pain in her left cheek. In both cases, the diagnosis of fibrous dysplasia of the maxillary bone was made histologically after exploratory or conservative operation. No recurrence was seen postoperatively. A review of 23 patients with fibrous dysplasia appeared in the literature in Japan is reported.
