Although perfusion of scala tympani with air at a flow rate as high as 200 μl/min caused little change of the EP as long as 60 minutes after the start of perfusion, perfusion of scala vestibuli at much lower flow rate of 3-60 μl/min caused apparent and swift change of the EP. Although there were different pattern in the EP change among the experiments, the consistent change was the decrease of the negative component of the EP after anoxia. The clinical implication of the experimental results were briefly discussed.
