Abstract

The realization of a sustainable society that can overcome the problems of global warming and resource depletion is crucial. We propose a vision for the sustainable society with new essential technologies which should be developed in the next 10-20 years to enable drastic replacement of the major energy source with natural energy and substantial energy saving. In particular, the production of fuel from sunlight by artificial photosynthesis will be a key issue. These technologies can promote the development of new industries.
