Super-resolution optical microscopy is introduced based on a hyperlens array made of a metamaterial. The peculiar light propagation in the metamaterial enables us to access super-resolution images in a direct and intuitive manner, without relying on fluorescent proteins, laser-induced nonlinear optical processes, etc. Conventional optical microscopes are upgraded into super-resolution microscopes with the hyperlens arrays.
