In plastic bending of sheet metal with V-die and punch, many factors are known to give their respective effects on the spring-back of the sheet, But, as to the pressure under which the bending is made to bring about any particular effect, it remains undefined.
Report is here made on the said effects of various factors when the bending is performed under the pressure defined by the formula
P=cσBbt2/L
where P is the pressure, σB the tensile strength, b the width of the sheet metal, t the thickness of the sheet metal, L the width of V-die, and c a numerical constant, the validity of the formula being at the same time checked by the experiment.
The results are analysed statistically and the process of deformation is studied. The formula is found applicable to usual cases except a few instances that are different from what are given in current papers.
