In the previous work, the author studied the method of measuring response function of focusing screen. In this paper, studies on the relation between response function and performance of focusing screen are reported.
Psychometric method of evaluating the quality of image on a focusing screen by recognition is investigated as an integral method of evaluation.
To facilitate the study on the relation between response function and performance, several ways of representing response function by a single number are critically examined, the result of which made the author adopt S1=_??_ [DF(ω)] 2dω as representing the normalized response function DF (ω) of the screen.
Recognition and normalized response function of various focusing screens are determined and the study is continued to explain the relation between recognition and S1.
