Lockdown for COVID-19 was in place in many countries and these countries face to a large economic and social cost, including unemployment on a massive scale. In Japan, on April 7, 2020, the government declared a state of emergency in the seven prefectures of Tokyo, Osaka, and so on. This study investigates the effect of self-restraint for COVID-19 in the Japanese government's declaration of a state of emergency on April 7, 2020.
