As the growth of Business Process Management (BPM) market, process customization based on customer requirement is arising for the competitive advantage of business organizations. When there are numerous of demand for customization, it causes a great number of business process model variations. The existence of numerous process variations leads to process redundancy and process underutilization, which can effect to business performance. Thus, there is a need to create a process reference model to identify and eliminate duplicate process information. This paper introduces a new approach to generate business process reference model from a process repository using Genetic Algorithm (GA). The automated creation of the reference model is basically executed using business process structure properties and the proximity of activities. In the end of this paper, we show the experiment result of our proposed method. It is believed that this process reference model can assist a novice process designer in creating new process based on existing processes.
