Alloyed semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) have been extensively studied owing to their versatile wide utilizations and many related researches have focused on their various tunable properties according to their particle sizes. In this study, a facile sonochemical method has been developed to prepare very small nanoparticles of cadmium sulfide (CdS) and cadmium telluride (CdTe). For a typical preparation procedure for CdTe, Cd(NO_3)_2 and tellurium powder, sodium borohydride (NaBH_4) with thioglycolic acid (TGA) as a dispersant were sonicated in 10 mM NaOH solution at 48 KHz and a power of 100 W for 5 hours. The photoelectrochemical and electrogenerated chemiluminescent behavior of the prepared QDs were examined in this study.
