Abstract
It is difficult to prepare the fine ceramics matrix composites for improving mechanical properties, against several examples are prepared by several processes. In this study, alumina/nickel composites are prepared by in-situ process to solve this problem, and their mechanical properties are reported. XRD patterns showed that Al2O3/xNi (x=0∼0.4) composites form by a reduction of (1-x)Al2O3+xNiAl2O4. Fracture toughness of composites is a major increase. SEM micrograph showed nickel particles appeared in grain boundary or triple junction. They inhibited crack propagation.
