Abstract
Aqueous titanium lactate solutions with a concentration as high as 1 M were obtained by direct reaction of titanium tetraisopropoxide with lactic acid. When aqueous ammonia was added to the solutions to increase the pH value to 9.0-9.5, colloidal solutions were obtained from which (004) preferentially oriented anatase films with refractive index of 2.54 were prerared. Patterned TiO2 films were also obtained from the solutions by photoirradiation to gel films.
