Abstract
There are various systems of heavy element containing glasses, which are known to precipitate crystalline phases with optical and/or dielectric functions, can be readily prepared by rapid quenching from the melt, and the glass-ceramic materials in such systems have been expected to be candidates for the optical telecommunication devices. The investigation on the thermal properties and the optical nonlinearity induced by the crystallization was performed to establish effective techniques for introducing optical functions of interest.
