Abstract
We have tried to prepare the easily recyclable colored glasses, which are colored by irradiation of high-energy light such as X-ray or UV and decolorized by heat treatment. We have investigated the effect of the excimer laser irradiation on the coloration due to photo-induced defect centers in soda-lime glasses. The coloration due to photo-induced hole centers was the most intense for the glass irradiated by the ArF excimer laser and the smallest for the glass irradiated by the XeF excimer laser. Fe ions in glasses depress the coloration due to photo-induced hole centers.
