In our previous study, β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) solid solution by the addition of various metal ions. In this study, the formation of β-TCP solid solution by simultaneous addition of monovalent and trivalent metal ions was investigated. Sodium ion and aluminum ion were chosen as monovalent ion and trivalent ion, respectively. The amount of aluminum ions were 6.06mol%, and the aluminum ions were substituted to Ca(5) site in β-TCP as 2MIII = 3Ca2+ + (MIII : trivalent metal ion). The amount of sodium ions was 0mol% to 20mol%, and the sodium ions were substituted to Ca(4) site and vacancy as 2MI = Ca2+ + □ (MI monovalent metal ion, □ :vacancy). The length of c-axis changed linearly with increasing the amount of monovalent metal ions up to 9.09mol% From the results, it was found that β-TCP solid solution by simultaneous addition of monovalent and trivalent metal ions could be formed.
