A Study on Biological Glass-Ceramic / Y-TZP Composite

Abastract: The research of biological glass-ceramic / Y-TZP composite was carried on by adopting sintering process production technology. The process is to get glass powder firstly by melting the mixed material at 1440oC, then quenching the melted glass, grinding, and drying; then blend the glass powder and Y-TZP uniformly; mould and heat treatment. The system of heat treatment and the crystallize phase of the compositions were analyzed by DTA,XRD, and SEM. The strength, toughness, bulk density, rigidity and chemical stability of the compositions were tested. The biological glass-ceramic / Y-TZP composite has fine physical and chemical properties, biocompatibility and aesthetics effect. The raw materials selected in the experiment are relatively cheaper, and the process is simple, so the cost is lower. These make the composite possess preferable market foreground and prospective economic and social benefit. Key words: biological glass-ceramic, Y-TZP, sintering process, composite
