Polymer / Organically Modified Layered Clay (OMLC) nanocomposites are a new class of filled polymers with ultra fine phasedimensions. They offer outstanding characteristics combined with strength and stiffness that is difficult to attain from thecomponents individually. The improved properties for these nanocomposites include mechanical, thermal and flammability properties and are related to the dispersion and nano structure of the layered clay in the polymer. In the present work, the change in the resistivity of the electrically conducting polymer composites is studied for the addition of OMLC (wt%). The improvement in the strength of the composites with the addition of OMLC is substantial. The process method consists of ultrasonic agitation alters the intercalation of the composites which is distinguished by the wide angle x-ray (WAXS) studies.
