Organic conductive polymer/mesoporous silica composite was prepared by chemical modification of SiO2, and its electrochemical properties for electrochemical capacitor electrode were examined in electrolyte solution. Introduction of the polymer, polyaniline, was carried out via two methods ; (A) polyaniline precedently synthesized was intercalated into the pores of mesoporous silica and (B) aniline was intercalated and polymerized in the pores of mesoporous silica. In these process, the aniline was introduced into the pores with the aniline/SiO2 of 0.5-6.0 for 48-240h. For these samples, the capacitances in the H2SO4 aqueous solution calculated from the cyclic voltammograms were around 44 F/g with maximum value. Since the capacitance of the polyaniline/mesoporous silica composite became larger than that of pure polyaniline, the polyaniline was found to be dispersed in the pores of SiO2.
