Cyclic Burner Rig Test of Turbine Nozzle Model of Silicon Nitride with Lutetium Oxide Additive

Turbine nozzle model part of silicon nitride was manufactured with lutetium oxide as sintering additive. The dimension of the sintered model part was ca. 100 x 60 mm. Cyclic burner rig test was carried out with the model part. The model part was heated up with burner flame to achieve maximum temperature of 1400 deg C in 2 minutes and kept that temperature for 1 minute. Totally 100 cycles of the rig test was carried out. No degradation of the model part was observed after the cyclic test. Temperature gradient in the model part during the test and stress analysis will be discussed.
