ZnO patterns were synthesized in an aqueous solution of zinc nitrate and dimethylamine-borane at 55C on a self-assembled monolayer template, followed by annealing at 80-800C. We investigated the influence of post-deposition annealing on the luminescence properties of the ZnO patterns deposited site-selectively. For the as-grown samples, broad visible-light emission (500-800 nm) was mainly observed by photoluminescence measurement. For the samples annealed over 200°C, the intensity of the visible light luminescence decreases and the intensity for the ultraviolet luminescence due to exciton emission increased as water included in ZnO goes out. Patterned monochromatic cathodoluminescence image of UV light was successfully demonstrated for micro ZnO lines for the samples annealed at 300C.
