Abstract
Zeolite and carbon powders were mixed in ethanol for 1hour. After the slurry was dried, the powder mixture was fired at the temperature of 1450°C for 2hours in 0.5l/minN2 flow, followed by heat-treatment at the temperature of 700°C for 2hours in air in order to remove residual carbon. As a result, it was confirmed that the main phase of synthesized powder was β-SiAlON from XRD analysis and it was composed of ultra fine particles from SEM observation and measurement of specific surface area. Consequently, zeolote is very useful raw material to synthesige very fine β-SiAl0N powders.
